With lockdown being lifted, industries have begun their everyday operations to keep the economy running. Nations in Asia such as Japan and South Korea for example have shown that with safety principles in place this is quite probable. Industries need to consider focus fully on demand creation in this Unlock 1.0 phase.
Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) loans to MSMEs and robust FDI inflows offer good momentum for industries. Choice of personal two-wheelers from rural market and possible announcement of scrappage policy is also expected to provide a push to auto and auto component industries.
Finance minister has agreed to take up with the GST council on relooking into the GST rates for some sectors which are affected by demand constraints.
Public sector banks have sanctioned around Rs. 20,000 crore loans to MSMEs under ECLGS against a target of Rs. 3 lakh crores as part of the union government’s Rs. 20 lakh crore stimulus package. Industries need to utilise the Rs. 3 lakh crore ECLGS scheme which is being proactively offered by bankers with simple form and formalities.
The newsletter brings you updates on various stimulus measures/packages announced by the central and state governments. It also gives an insight into news updates, various government notifications and best practices adopted by Indian and overseas industries to combat the coronavirus pandemic. |
